Payment Schedule
Total Sum of $3,950 due by March 1 of the year of the June expedition.
Required Payment Schedule:
- $500 due within the first month after being accepted on the expedition team (September/October)
- $1,500 due on or before December 15
- $1,950 due on or before March 1
Required Additional Out-of-Pocket Expenses
REQUIRED out-of-pocket costs for international travel:
- Round-trip Domestic flight to the designated departure city (usually Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Seattle)
- Valid U.S. Passport, no less than 6 months from its expiration date
- Entrance and exit visas for Cambodia & other countries along the trajectory
- Notarized letters of permission for travel for every participant age 18 and under
- Required vaccinations and malaria prescription
Conditional Fees
If the Cost of Airfare Exceeds $2,000:
Overall funds are based on HNH purchasing airfare costing approximately $2,000.00 or less. In the unlikely event of inflated airfares, the difference in any fare greater in value will be added to the overall cost of the expedition. HNH will do its best to find the safest yet most cost-effective fares.
Expedition Financial Coverage
What Do Your Expedition Payments to HNH Cover?
Help Nurtures Hope, Inc. funds will provide the following:
- International airfare from the indicated departure city (Usually Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Seattle)
- All in-country transportation, translation, accommodations, prepared meals, and clean drinking water as outlined in the expedition guide
- Evacuation & emergency insurance
- Help Nurtures Hope, Inc. program costs and administrative fees
- Service costs
What Will Your Expedition Payments NOT Cover?
Help Nurtures Hope, Inc. funds will NOT cover the following:
- Additional travel costs required to gather at the designated departure city (usually Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Seattle) –
- Required travel documentation (e.g., passports, visas, notarized letters, etc.)
- Required and recommended vaccinations, medical expenses, or prescriptions
- Personal clothing, shoes, toiletries, electronic equipment or cameras
- Extra food, snacks, room service, or beverages beyond the designated meal plan
- Extra money in US or other currency for spending while traveling, debit or credit cards, etc.
- Souvenirs
- Non-service or cultural activities not already designated on the expedition guide
- Accrued charges for international calling/texting/internet usage
What Are Optional Non-service or Cultural Activities:
Help Nurtures Hope, Inc. protects all donated funds for service use. However, we also believe in introducing cultural experiences to our expedition ambassadors and leaders. If the cost exceeds what we can reasonably cover, we offer the group a chance to decide if they would like the option to pay extra to compensate the costs. Here is a list of some of these available experiences:
- Kulen Elephant Forest: a 4- to 5-hour interactive experience with Asian elephants in their natural habitat, lunch included (~$100)
- Angkor Wat Archaeological Park Extended-days All-entry Pass: To explore more temples than our one-day excursion to Angkor Wat Complex, you may opt to pay the $72 fee for a 7-day pass good for any day within 30 days.
- Phare Circus: ($40) Cambodian acrobatic and storytelling style of circus in Siem Reap
- Long Layover Excursions/Tours in Other Countries: Occasionally, we may experience long layovers exceeding 7 hours. While HNH will cover any accommodations, transportation, and meals required for spending longer than 10 hours, or even overnight, in another location, we may decide to visit the cities and experience the cultures. The fee for any tour by a local guide will be shared among all participants.
